The development of this technology was driven by market demand identified by Geotronics Dystrybucja for a product enabling comprehensive and remote inspection of the technical condition of various types of overhead cranes. The primary identified need for crane track inspection is automated, precise, and comprehensive testing of track geometric parameters. Previously used measurement techniques are time-consuming and provide limited information.
The result of the industrial research and development work conducted as part of the project is an innovative, self-propelled (robotized) measurement platform integrating multiple operational and data collection technologies. The system is based on a combination of various technologies, including tachymetric positioning, odometry positioning, inclinometer positioning, servo drive, laser profiling, and digital imaging. Software was developed consisting of two modules: a field module for managing the measurement process, and an analytical module for diagnostics, analysis, and decision-making regarding the continued operation of the overhead cranes.
The developed product is intended for:
- surveying companies providing inspection services for crane owners/users,
- companies specializing in crane maintenance and repairs,
- crane owners or users who independently perform measurements and assess the technical condition of cranes,
- crane manufacturers who perform measurements during the construction phase or during the warranty period.
